I am planning on taking the GRE in about a week. I got this book from my local library a few weeks ago because I wanted help with the math portion of the GRE test.
This book contains a lot of good exercises that allowed me to practice math in many areas: geometry, radicals, roots, algebra word problems, etc. I found myself learning a lot by going through all the exercises. By the time I was through I was able to do many of the exercises without stopping to think. This is how I want to be when I take the test.
However, this book seems to have not been proofread. There are many, many, errors in the book. For example, an exercise may say "4/8" but when you get to the solution you find that they actually used "5/8". This happens very frequently throughout the book. I found it very annoying.
Also, I was disappointed that the book did not discuss permutations or combinations, both of which are part of the GRE according to two other GRE study guides that I have. I was also disappointed that this book contained a very short section on work problems. This is one area I need help with and while I got better by using this book, I was hoping for more examples.
Overall, this book is nothing more than adequate. If it had been proofread I could have given it a much higher rating. The information and the examples are great. But the annoyance of having so many errors really detracts from what could have been a much better book.
The version I reviewed can be found here.
